Featured Mystic,

Inspiration through Living:

Anandamayi Ma

(1896-1982)

anandamayi ma

To many, she became known as the Divine Mother in human form. She was the spiritual teacher to Indira Gandhi and thousands of others. She has 23 ashrams throughout India and she refused to be seen as a guru or religious authority. Here are some of her words of inspiration to assist us all on our path:

"The universal remedy is contemplation of the One."

"In order to become firm, calm, deeply serious, full of courage, with one's personality fully intact...one must be centered in the One."

"What is the method of drawing closer to God? Recite the name for your beloved that you like best. That is all. You have to call your beloved. Do that in whatever way you want."

"Remain calm and at peace under all circumstances."

"Memorize chants and verses in praise of God and repeat them while you move around. Never allow your mind to be idle."

Dear Friends,

Our time together is so valuable and so limited. May each moment that we share here on Earth be filled with gratitude for the blessings we have received, neverending forgiveness for harm done to ourselves or others, and eternal acceptance that all is enough just as it is.

I send many blessings to you for the joy, grace and love of the coming New Year!

In Light,

Denise

The Sacred Path of Remembering

forestThe ascetics and monastics, like Anandamayi Ma, teach us the value of a life of devotion and dedication to our highest values and ideals. Their marriage and sacred union was to God and their service to their community was their service to God. Their passion for living a life in honor of their highest ideals was infectious and they drew followers and disciples to them because they spoke the Universal Truth that resonates with the Soul of us all. These visionaries saw the Light and guided the rest of us down the path of that Divine Light.

One of the most important teachings that the mystics and visionaries who have walked before us teach us is to remember who we are. They teach us to remember that we are part of a Divine force field so great that its power and omnipotence guides all of us to love and to want to be loved. Whether you call that force field God, Buddha, Source or the Great Mother, it is Home to us all. We can return to this Source lifetime after lifetime, where the light of our soul melts and merges back with the Oneness of our Beloved.

Here are some words from Marguerite Porete (France 1277-1310), who exemplifies the abandon and surrender with which she gives her life to God.

The Soul Speaks to the Beloved

Beloved, what do you want of me?

I hold all that ever was, that is, and ever can exist,

I am filled with the all.

Take of me all you please -

If you want all of myself, I'll not say no.

We have the opportunity now to live our everyday lives as modern mystics in the world by honoring and remembering the beauty of who we are. By loving yourself and believing in yourself as fully as you can, you not only allow the beauty of your soul to shine through, but you allow the beauty of Divine energies to move and work you. You become a vehicle in the world for the sacred to come through.

I would like to offer you a very simple, yet powerful affirmation to help transform your relationship with yourself. Similar to mantras, affirmations hold a healing resonance and vibration that on their own can transform and heal the vibration of your entire energy field.

Several times a day, for at least 5 minutes each time, say slowly to yourself the following affirmation: "I love myself, I trust myself, I value myself." With each affirmation, allow the energy of each statement to permeate through your heart center and then throughout your body. Feel the words fill your body like the sound of a chime filling the room. Continue this practice until you no longer need to remember the affirmation. Your energy field will begin to embody love, trust and value.

This sacred path of remembering requires patience, trust, and surrendering of one's personal ego. The path of the sacred is a walk that we do with God in our midst. Blessings to you on your journey of remembering who you are! You are truly worth remembering!
